Today, I joined the NFDI4Earth as coordinator of the measure 3.3 “NFDI Commons”. My position is located at the Institut für Geowissenschaften at the Goethe University Frankfurt. The consortium NFDI4Earth is part of the German effort to create a national research data infrastructure (Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur, NFDI) and aims to build an infrastructure that makes Earth System Science (ESS) data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable i.e., FAIR) and that helps the ESS community to take up current developments and to implement best practices regarding research data management.
The tasks of the measure are the editing of a so-called Living Handbook and the embedding of the NFDI4Earth within existing networks on a national level. The Living Handbook will be a structured, community-driven collection of information about research data management and data sciences in the ESS and the NFDI4Earth, its outcomes, and services.
I’m excited to work for the consortium but also to be back at my Alma Mater.
